REPUBLICAN DEBATE: Ron Paul: I Can’t Tell Them What to Do

Like a good libertarian, Ron Paul responds to a question about whether he would disavow his 9-11 Truther supporters — who think the attack on America was an inside job — by saying “I can’t tell them what to do.” Maybe he should just say he didn’t know they were saying it and that he loves Rosa Parks.

In 2002, Bush became the first president to formally endorse a Palestinian state, …

    Huh ?

Bush first publicly called for a Palestinian state in October 2001, during a meeting with congressional leaders, saying that “the idea of a Palestinian state has always been part of a vision, so long as the right to Israel to exist is respected.”

Neo — thank you for the comment and the reference.

The Clinton Parameters were proposed by Clinton not as a matter of U.S. policy, but rather as the points that Dennis Ross had concluded were, at the time, the maximum each side could offer and the minimum each side could accept. Clinton told the parties it was not a U.S. position but rather only a personal proposal that would not survive once he left office.

It was Bush who first made support for a Palestinian state a formal U.S. position. My reference to 2002 was intended as a reference to the landmark Rose Garden statement of June 24, 2002 in which the support, and the conditions for it, were formally set forth.
