That’s right. For a second day running the New York Times does not feature a single Iraq story on its front page. Count ‘em. Not one. Today the lead article is about the recall of a blood thinner drug. Other stories report on a power sharing arrangement in Kenya, the battering Barack Obama is likely to take from Republicans, the loss of American standing in Pakistan because the administration continues to stand behind Musharraf (a rare instance of NYT editorializing that I agree with), the trend among banks to back away from home mortgages, and the return of Russian hockey stars to Russia.
If all hell has to be breaking loose to land a country on the NYT’s front page, I can only conclude that all heaven must be breaking loose in Iraq.
