Flotsam and Jetsam

The DNC goes into the swamps of Jewish power conspiracy.

John McCain figured out that he got under his opponent’s skin–and likely would be glad to have weeks of this debate (“patriotism vs. judgment”).

An excellent point: what is Jimmy Carter doing speaking at the Democratic Convention? No reaction so far within the Democratic Party. Ho hum. Sure, why not give the man who labeled Israel an apartheid state a speaking spot? It is this type of thing that raises doubts about what Obama thinks about foreign policy and what he intends to do–if he ever makes it to the White House.

The McCain team must be keeping their fingers crossed hoping that this nonsense keeps up. Yes, let’s make this an ongoing inquiry: just how religious was McCain during his years of captivity and torture on behalf of the country he loved? Maybe a full debate devoted to this topic.

The Left blogosphere reaction to the spate of polling borders conveys an underlying sense of panic. How could this be? (Hint: the Democrats apparently chose a weak candidate.) Not like Hillary Clinton didn’t warn them.

It would be compelling enough if it were just about abortion or even about infanticide. But it is also about the character and honesty of the man who wants to be President. The MSM isn’t much interested, naturally. The give away as Peter points out: Democratic surrogates become unhinged and scream “liar” and “unfair.” No more clues are needed that this matters. A lot.

Wow indeed. It seems the McCain camp has figured out where the weak points in its opponent are. And they intend to make it as hard as possible for the MSM to ignore.

It is not like Obama hasn’t disparaged originalist Supreme Court judges. So why should Douglas Kmiec be bent out of shape only now? Listen, if Kmiec needs a reason to rethink his support for a man who opposes all of Kmiec’s judicial views, this is as good a reason as any.

Marty Peretz slices and dices Samantha Power’s selective moral angst. But what does it say about the candidate who values her advice so highly?
