There he goes again

Obama loves, absolutely loves, to say that American soldiers weren’t “greeted as liberators” in Iraq. It’s such a strange fixation.

Your article hit the nail on the head and validated something I said yesterday. I had just read that Obama was taking his team of experts to Canada to signal that he is going to hit the ground running (I guess with Canada relations). I read it to my husband and said, he needs them nearby, because he doesn’t really bother to learn the issues himself. He is too busy permanently campaigning and taking his weekends off to dine out, play hoops and schmooze, which seems to be his great talent.

  2. Trent says:

Again, Obama just stuffed a giant stimulus package down your throats in record time. But his administration’s not that good. If it is so weak, why are you impotent to stop him? Or even slow him down? Why is the approval rating of Republicans in Congress falling while the approval ratings of Democrats in Congress increases? I guess you should be thankful that Obama didn’t find smarter people, considering this is the best you can do against the B team.

Oh well, it works for Hamas. Get the tar beat out of you and claim victory.

Thanks for the entertainment, anyway. Good yucks.

  3. Warpublican Review says:

“Yet, in the case of Barack Obama, a version of this sentiment has been continuously peddled as a form of reassurance”

You don’t get the politics? Guys like YOU said Obama was a green horn – without experience – he countered with the smart people he looks to for consultation. Most of us take a breath of relief after the bold incompetence of the last administration – though you kinda make a fair point: Bush surrounded himself with experts – some of them heroes on this side of town – and for much of America, the wisdom of J-Pod (or his dad), J-Rub, Billy Kristol, VDH and more ended up seeming not to wise. The question that Abey might want to ask: why do people still read Neo-Con rambling as anything other than the words of dead-enders and their recent and proven record of abject failure?

  4. Bob Miller says:

It is axiomatic that Democrats and allied groups (academics, reporters, entertainers…) are the smartest people we have on all topics, regardless of what actually happens when we listen to them. They tell us this all the time.

  5. Seth Swirsky says:

“why do people still read Neo-Con rambling as anything other than the words of dead-enders and their recent and proven record of abject failure?”

Not getting attacked on our soil for 7 1/2 years after 9/11 was an “abject failure”?

Democratizing Iraq — a major blow to the forces of radical Islam — was an “abject failure”?

We’ll have to agree to disagree, 3.

  6. Warpublican Review says:

“Not getting attacked on our soil for 7 1/2 years after 9/11 was an “abject failure”?”

I sure don’t give Bush credit for that: by THAT logic, Clinton kept us safe for the remainder of HIS term as well – does that make you feel better about his policies as a president?

“Democratizing Iraq — a major blow to the forces of radical Islam — was an “abject failure”?”
If you relly believe that democratizing Iraq is a blow to radical islam – when Iraq is a radically Islamic nation (see too many women walking around unvieled – like in Turkey or Indonesia?) – then we defintely agree to disagree…

  7. Warpublican Review says:

Clinton kept us safe for the remainder of HIS term as well – I refer, of course, the the First WTC attack in 1993…

  8. Derry says:

I don’t doubt either Obama’s lack of faith in his own abilities to govern absolutely without advice from top American minds, nor in the shaky start he has displayed in doing so already.

However, the president is not alone in colluding with geniuses and would-be geniuses. History is littered with examples of this. The Renaissance warlord Cesare Borgia, for instance, was able to choose as his advisory council two great thinkers – not just of his own era but of all time – Leonardo Da Vinci and Niccolo Machiavelli. The story of their meeting and cooperation is one of Renaissance Italy’s most fantastic tales.

A political and military affairs consultancy dream team, if ever there was one. I’m confident their tax issues did not come up during negotiations!!

  9. RBrandt says:

It’s pretty amazing – this is a team that makes Joe Biden look scholarly.

  10. wdriver says:

“The first black attorney general took the opportunity of his first speech to chastise America as ‘essentially a nation of cowards’ who ‘do not talk enough with each other about race.’”

Another scholar who doesn’t bother with history. We’ve been talking in this country about race since 1619 and this is where we are today?

What Holder means is that I don’t get everything I want when I want it, how I want it, without regard to the well-being of others. Standing there, speaking as the Attorney General, the top lawyer in the nation, and make a statement like that? God, grievances based on race will not end in this country as long as there is one minority person of color to complain of racism, as long as there is one minority religion to squeal intolerance.

It is not possible to salve the tortured souls of such people who refuse to take responsibility for themselves when they have the opportunities, without first latching on to the ghosts of the past with which to flagellate the people who offer them the same rights, responsibilities and expectations as any citizen of the nation – no more, no less.

Do not let this grieving scalawag represent me or my country in a court of law.

  11. Alexander Almasov says:

10: To your last sentence: Don’t worry, the solicitor general is likely even worse.

As for no-view, it’s no wonder: with its head so far up its arse, what else can one expect?

  12. Chris Bolts Sr. says:

“I sure don’t give Bush credit for that: by THAT logic, Clinton kept us safe for the remainder of HIS term as well – does that make you feel better about his policies as a president?”

And by your logic, Warpublican Review, Clinton didn’t bring us a period of economic prosperity because all of that happened without his help.

And just an aside, Clinton didn’t keep Americans safe from terrorism. Otherwise, 9/11 would’ve been prevented.

  13. SukieTawdry says:

My guess is that Barack Obama measures success by how much glory is reflected on him.

  14. Rod says:

You’ve got it #13 SukieTawdry; that’s all he and his wife really care about.

  15. Erick says:

I wouldn’t go so far as to say we are all doomed, but there is no doubt this is going to be a very long 4 years. These folks couldn’t get a job at McDonalds yet they are running the country.

  16. King says:

    A Democratic Ronald Reagan!
