It’s early, but so far the lamest rationalization heard on cable comes not from a Democrat but from Sarah Palin, who, when asked by FOX correspondents whether her support for Christine O’Donnell helped cost the Republicans a sure Senate seat, said that Chris Coons would have beaten moderate Republican Mike Castle (who had a huge lead in the polls over the Democrat) too. A little honesty and willingness to admit that this one didn’t work out to her party’s advantage would have gone a long way to reinforcing her credibility as a regular person and not a network spin artist. Not her finest moment.
