According to the Wall Street Journal, Decision Points, the new memoir by George W. Bush, sold 170,000 copies on its first day (and 50,000 ebooks as well, including to me). And a director of merchandising for Barnes & Noble told the Journal: “It’s done incredibly well for us, and it will be our fastest-selling adult hardcover for the year.”

McCain can’t even lock up Arizona, where the latest ASU/Cronkite has him barely 2 points ahead of Obama. CNN/Time, WashPo, Gallup, etc., have Obama solidly ahead in the swing states, even up 5 points in North Carolina.
A special thanks to Trust Fund Jenny for the gift of the Ayers™ message during the market meltdown, which made McCain and the Republicans seem ridiculously out of touch.
Thanks also to the conservative media for abandoning Senate races by their total focus on Obama vs McCain.
Colorado 774 LV, 3.5%
Obama 53, McCain 45
Florida 747 LV, 3.5%
Obama 51, McCain 47
Virginia 721 LV, 3.5%

Ohio 661 LV, 4%

Pennsylvania 713 LV, 4%

Yes, America, this is the intellect of the average Obama supporter and the future of what once was a great country. I only hope that you serve your Chinese masters with as much blind reverence when they gain control of this country sometime in the next 20 years.
Who can believe the polls?
Is McCain down 6 in NC as CNN/Time says?
Or has he closed the gap in PA to only 4 as per the NBC/Mason Dixon poll.
If you go by the more respected polling companies like Rasmussen, Mason Dixon and Gallup this ain’t over.
I’m not sure who the Sarah Palin says blogger is but hopefully that person has no kids thereby eliminating their genes from future generations and making the human race a better place.
I liked Dick Morris last night who made the point that the large 9% undecideds are Dems who just don’t trust Obama and are afraid to tell pollsters they’re voting for McCain. Let’s hope he’s right!
Blow me. You’re going to lose and your rabid zionism will quickly fade away.
The latest from respected polling companies like Rasmussen, Survey USA and Mason Dixon.
Obama is winning but not by insurmountable margins.
FL
Rasmussen – Obama +4
Mason Dixon – McCain +1
OH
Survey USA – Obama +4
Rasmussen – Obama +4
PA
Mason Dixon – Obama +4
Rasmussen – Obama +7
VA
Rasmussen – Obama +4
Survey USA – Obama +9
Mason Dixon – Obama +2
CO
Rasmussen – Obama +4
#9
Obama still wins with those numbers
#10 – Obama does win with those numbers but I preface my entry with the fact that while Obama is winning the 4% leads are not insurmountable.
If the election was held today and based on the polls then Obama wins.
Fortunately we don’t decide the election on polls.
Blow me again Jay …. it’s like the old steers and queers question. Which one are you? Obama wins in a landslide.

To Editor: I second #13. At least put some sort of flag/highlight next to the nonserious, hostile, add-nothing blogs so I can skip over and not waste my time. I am looking for serious, thoughtful discussion here, whether it supports my leanings or otherwise, but serious. There is nothing wrong withy you being subjective in this regard.
ToC and Mike, you should e-mail your complaints to the blog and to customer service (see above “contact us” and “customer service” links). Be sure to include a link to this thread: http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/rubin/40681?cp=2#comments This suggestion has in the past inspired a series of typical hate posts from one of the demented trolls. Since what he apparently wants more than anything else is to inflict pain on the commentary staff, he might even provide additional offerings even more gratuitously offensive than the above.
wow, and the left likes to lecture people about hate? what a joke
I don’t think there’s any need to call anyone a queer, when Nutcase will do.
By the way, Nutcases, you shouldn’t cherry-pick the polls. This will prove bad for your mental health.
To Democrat/Sarah Palin?/whatever name you are using this hour: Don’t you have a Palestinian suicide bomber rally you need to attend? If you hate Zionism so much, why aren’t you going off on the Obamessiah for sucking up to Israelis when he speaks to them in person?
The most depressing part about McCain being down in the polls is that it didn’t have to be this way. Sure, this was going to be a tough year for any Republican, but there was a clear path to victory–even with the financial tsunami–based on making this election a referendum on Obama, his ideology and his associations.
However, the groundwork for this needed to start in July–not a week ago. Where were the 527 groups on Wright, Ayers, Dohrn, and Khalidi? Why now, are we first hearing about interviews Obama gave not so subtly intimating that he’s a far left Critical Law devotee? Why only now is the LA Times tape, around since April, entering the public conversation? Pro-life 527s should have been pounding Obama for months on his voting against the indefensible “Born Alive” legislation.
You could see the frustration in Karl Rove on Fox last night. He was all but saying to the McCain campaign, “You schmucks, you should’ve been on top of this stuff. You didn’t coordinate any of this.”
Don’t you have a Palestinian suicide bomber rally you need to attend? If you hate Zionism so much, why aren’t you going off on the Obamessiah for sucking up to Israelis when he speaks to them in person?
Oh, you kidder you. Oh, and I never post under more than one moniker at a time. Whoever is using “Sarah Palin?” ain’t me.
