Another Iranian Scientist Assassinated

According to press reports, another Iranian nuclear scientist was killed in a bomb attack:

The bomb assassination of an Iranian atomic scientist on Wednesday will not stop “progress” in Iran’s nuclear programme, Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi told state television. “Today (Wednesday) those who claim to be combatting terrorism have targeted Iranian scientists. They should know that Iranian scientists are more determined than ever in striding towards Iran’s progress,” he said. He called Wednesday’s killing of Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, a deputy director of Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment facility, “evidence of (foreign) government-sponsored terrorism.”

Sometimes, assassination can forestall far bloodier conflict. As for Roshan, good riddance.

I agree with the outcome. n nBut I also thinks this shows the somewhat hypocritical nature of those who, for example, blasted Reuters for putting 'terrorists' in quotes and saying that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter (or something to that effect). n nTo me, the way in which something is done is far less important than whether the outcome is something that makes me and my family safer. Hopefully, this assassination does so I'm okay with it… even though the way in which it was done certainly falls into the textbook definition of terrorism.

If the assassination was terrorism, it focused on a very select group of targets (terrorees): namely Iranian nuclear scientists.

It really sells well, positioning the people who host conferences promoting nuclear disarmament – who signed on to a verification program to assure this which was fiscally strangled – as the 'real danger'….as opposed to those ( like Russia ) who have lots of weapons systems….and supply such.

What the hell is this? Is it what it has come to? "Good Riddance"!??? What kind of argument is that? It's so lame I can't even believe it. People need to wake up, US war hawks like Michael Rubin (whom does not have a single family member in the army evidently) are always pushing for thougher sanction on Iran "to prevent them from developping the bomb" which they are NOT according to the IAEA. (Please read the report before using it against Iran) They are pushing for yet another war because AIPAC wants to. MJ Rosenberg (used to work for AIPAC) puts it quite clearly: "The only effect sanctions have is to please AIPAC, which has made confronting Iran central to its mission. AIPAC writes the sanctions bills, Congress passes them, the president signs them, and the Iranian people (not the regime) bear the brunt of the effects. (The politicians who endorse such measures, however, quite often are well rewarded.)" n
