Rough Justice for Keith Olbermann

I have shocking news to report. Current TV has fired Keith Olbermann. One can only imagine what the hundreds of people who tuned into Olbermann on a nightly basis will do now that he’s been handed his walking papers.

Fox Sports, ESPN, MSNBC fired Mr. Olbermann, and now Current TV (in some instances, Olbermann was fired, brought back, and fired again) has added its name to his list of former employers. He has napalmed just about every bridge that exists in television. It seemed as if almost every person who worked with him had bad things to say about him. It’s hard to image who would hire Olbermann given his destructive, and self-destructive, personality.

I suppose there is some rough justice in seeing a man who has treated other people so poorly over the years — and who is motivated by such transparent hate and rage — end up this way. On the other hand, watching a person consumed by his own demons can also be poignant and unsettling. It was clear to many observers a long time ago that Keith Olbermann’s journey would not end well. And it hasn’t.

Time to start his own online network like Glenn Beck. r nr nGood luck with that Keith. People love Glenn. r nr nGuess who proved they are The Bigest Ahole In The World!

  4. Keith Rice says:

Olbermann capitalized on Bush Derangement Syndrome and like so many haters, could not find a way to back down from his shrill self-righteous platform.

Gore vs. Olbermann reminds me of the Iran/Iraq War. You kind of wish they would take each other out.

I liked the way he strung consonants together in a nattering nabob of negativity way. Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers-bet he could say that three times fast. Maybe he should find a new recreational drug of choice. Just saying. What? Oh yeah? Misdirected rage is a drug too mister.

Did Current TV simply use Keith to gain attention and higher ratings? They KNEW what they were getting! Keith injects emotion into his commentary, his intelligent and incisive reporting, his humor, and his relationships….all of which makes his program so interesting. You FEEL his pain, you FEEL his anger, and you FEEL his heart-felt sincerity when he covers a story. He's never just a talking head! If Keith is absent from Current TV, then I too will be absent from Current TV. Keith is unique- one of the best- hands down; as shown by is coverage of OWS, which was outstanding. I wish him well and hope he is back on the air soon.

  8. Olbermann has one thing in his favor– as a kid, he recorded and thus saved a lot of Bob & Ray's broadcasts. (He actually appeared on their show as the world's youngest sportscaster or something, at about 14.) Unfortunate that he didn't learn the key lesson of their work, which is that broadcasters are usually cluelessly self-important…

  9. The station that hired Rick Sanchez is looking for a co-anchor.

  10. Tom Gregg says:

    See? There is a God!
