Yesterday, President Obama informed us that that he was not prepared to question the patriotism or love of country of any of his political rivals. “I’m a firm believer that whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican, that you’re a patriot, you care about this country, you love this country,” Obama said at a fundraiser in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. “And so I’m not somebody who, when we’re in a political contest, suggests somehow that one side or the other has a monopoly on love of country.”
Except that he is.
For example, in this speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, President Obama repeated a line he’s often used. “But if we’re being honest, we know the real problem isn’t the Members of Congress in this room. It’s the Members of Congress [Republicans] who put party before country because they believe the only way to resolve our differences is to wait … till the next election.”
Insisting time and time again that Members of Congress are putting party above country for political expediency is a pretty good definition of being unpatriotic. The president, then, is doing the very thing that he said he never does.
Such is the bipolar nature of the Obama presidency. He not only does one thing while claiming to do another; Obama, ever true to himself, presents himself as high-minded even as he routinely takes the low road. His hypocrisy is combined with an unmatched sense of moral superiority. If this effort isn’t premeditated, then the condition is clinical. Neither option reflects particularly well on the president.

And the clinical condition is probably narcissism. I am guessing that BHO's self image is that he is wise, righteous and a child of the light; and that the forces of darkness who oppose him necessarily are either too daft to recognize his superiority, or are motivated by evil designs.
Clinical condition is "MALIGNANT Narcissism". The compulsion to destroy anything someone else MIGHT enjoy.
when every member of the House votes against your budget I'm certain that neither side of the aisle voted for their party … in fact it looks like they all voted for their country … and against Obama which makes him the one putting something above country …
It seems clear to me that we have a President whose own sense of his own importance in history and his unique destiny have blinded him to the fact that others can see him for want he is-a politician with unbounded ambition who will do everything that he can think of to promote himself. If he is serious about tax reform he would not have reopened the millionaire tax cut idea in an election year because he must know that there is no chance that it will be considered on its merits and that its entanglement in the election will be seen as nothing other than an effort to cast dispersion on Governor Romney. It is hard to see how this can do anything other than make real tax reform possible. But this seems like a small price to pay if one wants to be re-elected more than anything else in the world.
I am in the process of reading both of his books, not done so perhaps a wonderful surprise is yet forthcoming. So far is my view and his words are fairly clear: we Americans have been brought up in a colonialist mentality, our Founders certainly were a group of privileged white folks who framed a Constitution built to uphold their power (His thoughts) And for some time he is correct in how racism ruled America. I agree that this was Wrong. My question and concern is we no longer think or act this way (sure there are pockets of knuckleheads everywhere) I get the feeling from his book their is a punishment to bare for the sins of our fore fathers…and Mr. Barack is the Task-Master that we shall heed to. n nWell, I am just on the Jeremiah Wright chapter so I suspect more "class warfare" to follow. But my senses so far is that Barack Obama needs to teach the United States of America a lesson in humility. And if he gets re-elected (could one imagine this…?) we have not seen anything yet in regards he is going to change both the Judeo-Christian social fabric we were raised on, and the economic annihilation he plans to put us through to "Equalize us" for our iniquities. n nRead his books…he actually tells things that for certain leave you wondering why would I VOTE for this man who thinks this way. For certain many things you must read "between the lines" but much you don't. If you hate America you will love him, if you love America you will be more then worried about his polices. Pray for him
Republicans and other right-wingers frequently question the patriotism of those with whom they disagree. That's just an historical fact.
And Democrats dont? We were just shown in his own words that Obama does.
So that means Obama gets a pass for such ugliness? And very nice of you to stereotype based on political lines. It show a real depth of thought most Democrats don't have.
Obama is being pre-emptive. He suspects that it would be him if any candidate will have his patriotism or love of country questioned. He has coddled up with and aided our country’s worst enemies–Moslem Brotherhood,Russia, Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas, while being nasty to our best allies–Britain and Israel.
Bayo Daramola Facts of history show that maximizing the impact of effort is never quite easy to achieve even if it is not totally impossible. It may just be that trying ones best will always create a thin line between the sincere and insincere character of any contender, whoever he/she may be. In America, the best should still emerge and remain, in so far as the playing field is still level.
Bi-Polar? Ya mean Half Islam – Half Marxist? n nHypocrisy and campaign rhetoric never qualifies as "Bi-Polar" and who buys his hypocrisy anyway?
The site you provide above is not the original of McConnell's remarks. If you were to review that, you would see that the clear context of the Senator's remarks is the absolute necessity of repealing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and that necessitates defeating Obama because, as McConnell correctly surmised then (2009), the Republicans would likely never have a two-thirds majority in either House of Congress, which would be necessary to override a certain Obama veto of any repeal effort. n nThat context is always conveniently omitted by Democrats when they bring up McConnell's remarks so that they can deliberately play up the angle that the Republicans just want to defeat Barack Obama period, with the usual implication: because he's black. The practical truth is, if repealing ACA is of paramount importance, which I submit it is, then the two-thirds clause makes the importance of Obama's defeat exceptionally acute.
anadessma nailed it! I find that McConnell argument to be lazy as a method of debate and intellectually dishonest as it is presented. I see this happen by all political persuasions, but for Dems to cling to McConnell's statement when Pelosi, Kerry, and many other elected officials uttered similar phrases about Bush before '04, then I find the use of this argument to also be hypocritical too.
