Erskine Bowles is a Paul Ryan Fan

Thanks to Ed Morrissey for bringing attention to this priceless video of Erskine Bowles, the Democratic co-chair of the Obama Commission on Fiscal Responsibility, praising Paul Ryan and his budget plan during a lecture at the University of North Carolina last September:

Bowles is hardly advocating for the Ryan budget here, but he clearly admires both Ryan and his plan. And that isn’t even the most damning part of the clip for the Obama campaign. After praising Ryan’s budget as “sensible, straightforward, honest, serious,” Bowles adds, “I don’t think anybody took [Obama’s] budget very seriously.” That’s how you dig in the knife in academia:

Have any of you all met Paul Ryan? We should get him to come to the university. I’m telling you, this guy is amazing. I always thought I was okay at arithmetic, this guy can run circles around me. And he is honest, he is straightforward, he is sincere. And the budget he came forward with is just like Paul Ryan. It is a sensible, straightforward, honest, serious budget, and it cut the budget deficit, just like we did, by $4 trillion.

The president came out with his own plan. And, the president as you remember, came out with a budget. And I don’t think anybody took that budget very seriously. The Senate voted against it 97-to-nothing.

Do you think the RNC is even going to bother editing this down for their campaign ads, or are they just going to run the clip as it is?

So today BHO says he wants "a new America in which prosperity is shared".Are you kidding me ?!!And who's going to share in my failure?! Why should I share my prosperity with thosewho are lazy, don't apply themselves, want handouts, etc. Why should I pay with my tax dollars for a very expensive private lawschool student's free contraceptives, etc. I guess the next step I have to pay for free food, housing, clothing, etc. for her. No, this isAmerica. What's the incentive for anyone to do better than others through sacrifice and hard work. None. We'll all do the minimum to get by.

nThis is the problem with Obama – he is trying to put more people on the public dole so he can make the country more and more socialist.

The American people are going to get a campaign to remember. If Mr. Romney is sincere, and I think he is, then he and Mr. Ryan will be able to make the case for a conservative and overall stronger America. The intellectual heft is there; the case need only be made. n nMr. Bowles's comments are priceless and only lend even more weight and credibility to Mr. Ryan's ideas and approach to the nation's budget. n nAs for endorsements, first, there was Mr. Clinton telling America that Mr. Romney's business credentials are "sterling." Now Mr. Bowles tells us Mr. Ryan "is amazing. … "And he is honest, he is straightforward, he is sincere." n nNext thing you know, it'll be Mr. Biden, always prone to gaffes, telling us that if he weren't running, he'd vote for Messrs. Romney and Ryan. Can the endorsements from the Democrats get any better? n n
