“Weight and Sense. . . .”
To the Editor:
Each time I read my copy of COMMENTARY I feel impelled to write you thanking you and congratulating you on your fine job. Impulse has finally broken through indolence. There is no magazine I know that is doing what you are doing, and I don’t limit this to subject matter dealing with Jews. There is weight and sense and honest exploration, and if I don’t happen to agree with everything everybody writes, it’s a good healthy argument with people I respect. Perhaps what I like most is that in a world of doctrinaires, your doctrine has variety, good humor, and scholarship. . . .
