To the Editor:
It is disappointing and misleading to write a parody of a book review in order to undermine an author’s serious thesis. Joseph Adelson [Books in Review, May] ridicules Letty Cottin Pogrebin’s effort in Growing Up Free to create a non-sexist environment for children. His review reflects the very attitudes that so graphically confirm the importance of what she is saying. The joke is really on the reviewer.
