Soviet Dissidence

To the Editor:

. . . In just six pages Lev Navrozov [“On Soviet Dissidence: An Interior View,” November 1973] told me what six-hundred pages of some learned sociopolitical tome with twelve-hundred detailed footnotes wouldn’t or couldn’t. Mr. Navrozov fully acquits the rare promise of his first essay in COMMENTARY, “Getting Out of Russia” [October 1972]. . . .

To the Editor:

. . . Because Lev Navrozov is able to turn his intellectual cynicism into subtle probing of moral responsibility and a profile of individuality, he writes with a wit and keenness long missing from Russian letters. . . .
