- Abstract
A RELATIVELY recent addition to the American scene is the pan- oply of organizations whose sole de- clared purpose is to promote human rights around the world. Some of these groups have become highly influential, helping to mold public opinion and acting as effective points of pressure on the U.S. gov- ernment. Though this hardly amounts to a revolution in the way American foreign policy is formulated and carried out, it is a signifi- cant new factor nevertheless.
