The Hasidim -- An Analogy

To the Editor:

In “The Dead Hasidim: Part II” [May], Herbert Weiner writes: “The sharing of bread and wine could not be much different in appearance from the actual last supper of Jesus and his disciples. . . .” It seems to me that there is still a stronger analogy in the fact that Rabbi Nachman hinted “he was that Tsaddik, the ‘Moses-Messiah,’” and said, “he must suffer great humiliations and must be able to accept these humiliations in silence.” Reading these sentences, I saw in my mind’s eye the first Judeo-Christian community before Paul.
