The Monastery Joke

- Abstract

At the base of Mt. Everest, Sherpas are struck to see a small, elderly woman emerge from the snows. “Hello, I’m Mrs. Goldbaum,” she says. “I need to get up to the monastery.”
“You mean the Buddhist monastery at 17,000 feet? The one that is home to Baba Ram Lama, the great mystic?”
“That one,” she says.
“But Mrs. Goldbaum, that is one of the most treacherous climbs on earth.”
“Don’t worry about me, Sonny,” she says. “I gotta get up there.”
“You are on a quest? A spiritual quest?”
“Yeah, a quest,” she says.
