Hillary’s New Low

Abe Greenwald - 02.25.2008 - 1:21 PM

This is what desperation looks like. If reports are correct and Hillary’s campaign circulated the picture of Barack Obama in a turban over the weekend, then this tasteless hail-Mary was executed while she simultaneously scolded Obama for fighting dirty and using “tactics right out of Karl Rove’s playbook.” (As someone pointed out to me, her Karl Rove analogy is correct insofar as Karl Rove’s tactics (if not his strategies) tend to be effective.) Hillary’s moves have been, at best, temporary band-aids and at worst, catastrophic set-backs. But whether it’s tears, scolding, or race-baiting, it all seems desperate and defensive.

One wonders how long she’s sat on this picture. And what will her continued descent into ever-more-shameless territory look like? As Allahpundit points out: “At this point I half-expect her to accuse [Obama] of being a Muslim at the debate tomorrow night.” I suppose she’ll interject such accusations between charges of being unscrupulous. There’s a genuine flailing quality at work. Having just challenged Obama to “have a debate about your tactics and your behavior in this campaign,” Hillary has lapped him in the race to the bottom and forfeited any pretense of moral superiority. Switching campaign managers was more like pulling the goalie. Team Hillary is now trying to score at any cost in the ugliest last minute of her career.

We should all remember that the Clintons are at their most dangerous, and most effective, when one of them is “Throwing spaghetti on the wall and seeing what sticks.” If Barack Obama is so full of his Cult of Personality that he is not aware of this, he deserves to have the Democratic nomination pulled out from under him.

When will blacks wise up that they are nothing but canon fodder for the liberals & leftists that control the Democratic Party?

The Dems don’t have the best interest of the blacks at heart when they do everything to enhance the feelings of victimhood in the blacks, and do things to prevent blacks from entering the middle class unless it is by way of a job dependent on the government. This is not freedom; it’s dependency.

Gee… hard to say since one of them is about to win the nomination for president of that party.
I would have said that being president of the United States is a good way of entering the middle class, but I could be mistaken.

It was lame but it wasn’t faux-tography. If a conservative cartoonist portrayed him in a turban I’d say it was rough but totally within the rules. (Okay there’d be riots in Pakistan.) You’re awfully prissy about this for a political blogger.

Teresa, I think you missed my point.

The Democrats always have had black figure heads. Think of them as straw bosses while the masses are field hands chained on the plantatin of government dependency.

Even if BO won the presidency, it would not, for example, improve the failed public schools which blacks are condemned to attend. The Democratic establishment would not permit reform in deference to the teachers’ unions, etc., and the educational genocide would continue under figure head Obama the same as it would under HC.
