Does anyone have any insight on WHEN McCain will name his VP? He wouldn't wait until the convention, would he? Is he waiting for the Dems to have a nominee so he can choose his VP accordingly (i.e. Condi Rice if Obama or Romney if Clinton - just hypothetical there)? Is he wating for a slow news period so as to generate the maximum amount of covereage? I'm just curious what people here at Contentions think, because I have no idea.

"Is such a woman out there?"

I would be wildly enthusiastic Sarah Palin, but I hear she's supposed to have a [fifth!] baby this spring, so I'm not sure she'd be up for campaigning.

Remember a few years ago when everyone was touting Condi Rice? She's not as appealing these days (disappointingly), but I still find myself wondering if the McCain campaign has her name in the hat.

I think that F and M poll was just for PA whereas the Gallup poll is nationwide but the point still stands.

And those #s will only grow in the coming weeks and months.

In fact, if McCain would offer the VP slot to the loser and run on a "unity" ticket he'd be guaranteed to win. Not that that would ever happen. But I think the polling does show that if McCain can find a woman to put on the ticket who's acceptable to conservatives and moderates, he wins the WH rather comfortably. Is such a woman out there?

Wright has already alienated Whites, Jews and Italians(Catholics) among others. I don't see how Obama wins without strong support from those groups.

Watching the dems implode is delightful

It's not surprising, I think, that the number of "Hillary Supporters for McCain" is spiking. I don't really believe that McCain will get anywhere near 28% of her supporters, but even if he got one-third that number it would be a major problem for Obama. And right now, I think the Obama campaign, and their cheerleaders in the media, are driving Hillary's supporters right into McCain's arms. It's not as if the Hillary supporters are some tiny sliver of the Democratic Party - they represent a huge faction and have given millions of dollars to her. When day after day she's dismissed as a monster, a party-wrecker, etc., and she's lambasted for daring to name He Who Must Not Be Mentioned (Pastor Wright), well, it's bound to stick in the craws of the Hillary fanatics because it looks incredibly unfair.

But it sure is a fun time to be a Republican.

Only a short time ago, I was perceived as somewhat weird for predicting John McCain could win by a landslide. As matter of fact, I may have been the only one! Alas, I now represent the common wisdom. Such is life. "Barry" Obama will likely become another George McGovern. John McCain may have to punch out the teeth of an elderly nun to blow this opportunity. Hillary Clinton blew her last chance by lying about the Bosnia trip. It will not be forgiven by the more middle of the road voters. Only the hard core feminists will cut her any slack.

I believe Mrs. Obama already *did* sound-off again in typically tone-deaf fashion...either today or yesterday.

I note that Rev. Wright has now come out with an ethnic attack on "Italians" as "garlic noses." So this is pretty prescient.
