“We Desire Death”

David Hazony - 03.27.2008 - 9:41 AM

How twisted is Hamas? Here is Fathi Hammad, a Hamas member of parliament, in a startling video that everyone should watch. In a speech, Hammad described Hamas’ attitude towards the wondrousness of human life:

[The enemies of Allah] do not know that the Palestinian people has developed its methods of death and death-seeking. For the Palestinian people, death has become an industry, at which women excel, and so do all the people living on this land. The elderly excel at this, and so do the mujahideen and the children. This is why they have formed human shields of the women, the children, the elderly, and the mujahideen, in order to challenge the Zionist bombing machine. It is as if they were saying to the Zionist enemy: “We desire death like you desire life.”

Zowie. This is not a single suicide bomber, or a crazed lunatic, but a leading politician in the leading Palestinian political party. In recent posts I have suggested that the Palestinians have some important cultural issues which may need tackling before a genuine reconciliation with the West can happen. I do not know exactly how representative Hammad is of the average Palestinian’s worldview. But his party was voted in by a majority of Palestinians; even in the West Bank, traditionally a Fatah stronghold, Hamas has recently pulled even in polls

All a reasonable person can say to this sort of statement is, that when a group of people or an entire culture wants to commit suicide, no one should stand in their way. The Palestinians are an artificial nation with a failed culture, which is part of a disintegrating Arab civilization. It would be ludicrous to engage in any permanent territorial agreement with such people whose most fervent wish is to kill themselves.

The main problem is that they want to take others with them.

If the Palestinians so desire death, then why not have Israel accommodate them? By Hamas’ “logic” Israel would be doing them a favor if they just dropped a handful of fuel-air bombs over the Gaza Strip and send these people to the cherished thereafter.

I agree that peace efforts with these people are fruitless. Israel should go after Hamas with extreme prejudice. Don’t aim for the “innocents” as that would be politically untenable, but if they happen to become collateral damage, then so be it. Hey, it’d be doing them a favor to kill them!!!

Hamas is not unique in desiring death as an effective method of killing Jews. Why did Hitler violate the pact he had signed with Stalin? We can’t read his mind more than 60 years after his death, but it probably was in order to kill Jews. The USSR had added many Jews to its population after it annexed eastern Poland and the Baltic states. Hitler’s goal was destroying the world’s Jews. The USA, the other country in the world with millions of Jews, was far away and would have to wait. Hitler risked the destruction of his own regime in order to kill the Jews of the recently enlarged Soviet Union. His deal worked: he got almost all of the Jews in the new western USSR, and he paid the price he was willing to pay.

I suggest that we attack the “important cultural issues” of the Palestinians by bombing the hell out of the whole lot of them–targeting prominent death-lovers first–until whoever is left standing is a rational human being who is in love with life and real progress and not some psychotic “reaver” fixated on death and killing Jews or any other unbelievers.

I do not know exactly how representative Hammad is of the average Palestinian’s worldview.

I do. Accordingly recent polls he is representative of at least 84% of them.

The death-wish Palestinians are lucky Israel is a civilized nation which shows restrain.

Otherwise, they would get a real taste of modern technology in ways that would have them whimpering for mercy within an afternoon. Ditto for what Ellen above describes as the rest of part the “disintegrating Arab civilization.”

God help the Arabs if/when Western patience runs out on them.

the problem has not ever been the palestinians. had they been left to their own devices they would have collapsed a long time ago.

the problem has always been the west. it’s the west that accepted the myth of a palestinian nation and culture. it’s the west that funded the refugee camps. it’s the west that is now funding hamas and fatah to the tune of zillions while renouncing the most basic requirements of them. it’s the west which is pushing israel to suicidal concessions. it’s the west which is blind to the barbaric nature of their culture.

which is not much different than the arabs as a whole. without the west and its thirst for oil the arabs and their religion and culture would have stayed in the 7th century where they belong.

stop complaining about the palestinians. the enemy is our governments, media and academia.
the palestinians are only doing what works with the infidel useful idiots. they are acting rationally, in a sense. it’s the west that acts irrationally.

Like most terrorists, Fathi Hammad is a braggart and a coward. I noticed he hasn’t strapped a suicide belt on. Only the dumbest and most indoctrinated terrorists kill themselves, and they all strive to die quickly and painlessly. If they knew their actions had no chance of destroying the West, even those idiots would think twice.

Unfortunately, their actions are helping to destroy Israel, because the Israeli leadership and a sizable segment of the public have no desire to defend their hard earned country.

I know terrorists read these comment boards. Just so you know, you scum aren’t fooling anyone. We know you’re terrified of us. That’s why you shrink from facing us in direct combat. No matter what you do, we’re not going to follow your child molester, sex offender, prophet pretender.
