Where Was This Hillary All Her Life?
- 05.06.2008 - 10:49 PMIf Hillary had taken the Obama challenge more seriously last year, and had refined her message then as she has now, and had been able to speak in the calm, controlled, un-shrill cadence of the speech she is delivering right now, Obama would not have burst out of the gates with Secretariat speed as he did. She really has found a powerful political voice — only she found it too late for the nomination, it appears. But not too late to be the vice-presidential nominee for her party.

What a waste for her to be the VP for Obama. She should turn it down. It’s just the retirement path for - they’re trying to push her out of contention permanently. She and Bill owe nothing to the Democratic Party. They returned it to viability in the 1990’s after decades of ideological terpitude and electoral decay.
She should plot another path for herself, and tell the DNC to go down in flames with Obama all by themselves.

Nope, that’s simply false. I should be a swampland salesman in Florida. John Podhoretz would be my first customer. BO was going to burst out of the gates regardless of how well Hillary ran her campaign. He is a “man of color” and too many white left-winger want to prove “I’m not a racist.” End of story.

The party nominates the presidential candidate, that nominee then selects the VP for the ticket (obviously not without pressure from the party).
I don’t think there is any amount of pressure the party could exert to force Obama to choose Clinton as his running mate. Indeed I doubt they’d even exert any pressure at all; the Clinton era is over. Finally.

It’s comical to assume that the Obama camp would nominate Clinton for VP, or that she would accept it. Neither of those self serving ego-maniacs would cooperate in any endeavor whatsoever, much less one they thought could benefit others.
I used to hope for a Clinton nomination, because I knew she was far more likely to be crushed by Senator McCain in the general election. Now I eagerly anticipate an Obama nomination, because I want to see him and the sneering, accusatory ideology of opportunism, racism and smugness that he represents destroyed decisivly in the eyes of envious America haters around the world. The political correctness and abject weakness that Obama personifies needs to be humiliated internationally in no uncertain terms.
I look forward to the general elections with great relish. So should every conservative and moderate.

JPod, the analogy to “burst out of the gates (sic) with Secretariat speed” is a poor one. Secretariat’s running style was more of a closer. In the Kentucky Derby, for example, he went from last to first, running each quarter mile faster than the previous one.
