Remember (the) Maine?
- 02.01.2008 - 2:29 PMMaine holds its caucus, which will award 21 delegates, over the weekend. According to this, McCain is likely to win. Well, as goes Maine . . . On a more serious note, it does show that once you are the “frontrunner” many of the smaller states (where no one visits or runs ads) get swept easily into your column.

Jennifer, the only way to stop McCain is to draft a Favourite Son candidate at the GOP Convention.
We have to force a floor fight, and we have to draft a Favourite Son. Your pal Quin Hilyer laid it out the other day over at The American Spectator.
Romney was always a weak candidate, and would have proven as much even had he earned the GOP nomination.
McCain is tainted for all of the reasons that Conservatives have noted.
So let’s draft a Favourite Son.

Your sympathies Jennifer are so transparent. You go out of your way to point out in a blog that McCain is likely to win Maine, and that “As goes Maine…” Well you were just plain wrong, but I see no “mea culpa” anywhere. There is nothing objective or balanced or even fair in your analysis. While I agree that McCain has the momentum (in spite of the occasional blips of life that Romney is starting to show a couple of states) you should at least have the integrity to point out your mistakes. You thought McCain would win Maine…he did not. And if McCain wins the nomination (which is your obvious preference) then you will have been wrong on Maine again… because in this case…”As Maine goes…” the nomination did not follow.
Besides, the “As Maine goes….” comment refers to presidential elections, not party nominating contests. In addition, the article you referenced notes that “…Maine relinquished its status as Presidential bellwether.” So wrong or right, your reference to Maine in the first place was misplaced.
I appreciate someone who supports his or her candidate, but have a little courage to admit when you are wrong too. This was such a homer blog entry it was really beneath your capabilities.
