Nothing Like A Kennedy to Add Some Class
- 05.09.2008 - 5:59 PMLeave it to Ted Kennedy. It is one thing to say that Hillary Clinton might not be the best choice for VP or that Barack Obama should make his own choice. But that would have shown grace and restraint. This comes from an interview with Al Hunt:
Obama should choose a running mate who “is in tune with his appeal for the nobler aspirations of the American people,” Kennedy said. “If we had real leadership — as we do with Barack Obama — in the No. 2 spot as well, it’d be enormously helpful.”
Can you think of anything that would inflame Clinton’s supporters more or cause her and Bill to dig their heels in any deeper? If Obama were smart he’d publically distance himself from Kennedy’s remarks. But wait. He doesn’t rebuke mentors unless they speak at the National Press club.

Barack could no more disown Ted Kennedy than he could disown the entire wealthy liberal elite community. And anyway, who says Ted Kennedy’s his mentor? Kennedy’s just this dude Barack used to see around the cloak room, and anyone who says anything else is engaging in a smear typical of the old politics and probably lost her bearings.

Plus it’s a just a distraction.

Teddy for V.P.!!! The fact that he’s been so publicly and thoroughly vetted by the Democrats is exactly why further vetting of Obama, by fellow Democrats, is futile. If they will repeatedly elect Teddy, there is no reason they won’t vote for Obama, no matter how many Emmett Kellys pile out of his “clown car.”

Enough with your phony defense of Hillary, Mz. Rubin. The fact that the entire conservative commentariat is now blowing her kisses for ACTUALLY acting like a jerk, when their case was weaker in the hey day of the VWRC and throughout her first senate term, is enough to make one hurl.
She. Has. Lost.

Think. We. Care?

Nope. We. Don’t.

You’re right, CK. It is a waste of space to write about her at this point, and I wish righty pundits would follow your advice.

I’m starting to get the impression that Hillary Clinton is no longer left-wing enough for today’s Democratic Party. It seems to have lurched further leftwards in the last few months. The Obama Democrats may no longer be willing to even tolerate anyone even slightly to the right of them.

It’s her posing that rankles; she’s a total poser.

Ted was probably drunk.
