Michael Scheuer Watch #11: The Danish Affair Is Not Over
11.08.2007 - 12:05 PMA well-placed Washington source has written to me to point out that in my previous post I misunderstood an important aspect of CIA secrecy regulations. He informs me that even when the press reports about classified facts, former and present CIA officers are enjoined, under penalty of prosecution, from commenting in any way that might confirm those classified facts.
In other words, if Scheuer did talk to Politiken about the extraordinary rendition of a terrorist suspect and confirmed that the rendition occurred or provided other details, he might still be at risk for prosecution. It is necessary therefore to re-raise some questions that have still not been put to bed. 1. Did Scheuer comment to Politiken about the rendition operation?
2. If he did, was the information he provided still classified even if details about it were previously available in the media?

Re: #10, I tried the first link you posted and got 404 not found.
I tried all the others, and they (unfortunately) were good links, which means I was forced to read a few lines of the blogposts appearing there.
(shudder)
But I found no sign of our friend “Mike”.
Did the Jingoist guy remove ‘Mike’s’ contribution, after discovering that you had found it?
If ‘Mike” is a contributor and fellow traveler with Patriot/Jingoist, then I’m flat-out nauseous at the thought that he might not be the only one of those who has had or does have authority of some sort in our government.
Makes me wonder if a large portion of the visceral hatred of Bush that one finds in government offices might not be based on his evangelical Christianity and thus his affection for Israel. Could it be that Bush hatred and anti-Semitism are one and the same thing? IT would certainly explain the viciousness and mindlessness of Bush hatred; no matter how many purported reasons for it, in the end it has no rational basis. It’s just hatred.
IF this were a more ordered world, Michael Scheuer would have a date with a straightjacket.
